Internal Displacement
We address internal displacement information gaps as the total lack of accurate, accessible information for people forced to move within their own country due to conflict or sudden disasters.
We observe that in Bangladesh, internally displaced persons often fall completely off the communication grid, leaving them wide open to scam operators and misinformation.
IOM Bangladesh points out that internal displacement creates information black holes where rumours and panic grow unchecked.
We conduct research to map these information gaps, pinpointing exactly when and where displaced communities lose access to reliable data. We then team up with local authorities and telecom providers to set up emergency information channels.
Through direct community engagement, we help displaced populations navigate the mess of aid distribution and government registration processes. We make sure information disorder does not pile on top of the existing trauma of displacement.
